The art of cooking is about blending seasonings, herbs and spices and applying them with a practiced lightness of hand so that the main ingredients of the dish are enhanced and not stiffled.

Ashoka (233 B.C.), Indian Emperor, grandson of Chandragupta, the founder of the Mauryan dynasty, and son of Bindusura, came to the throne around 268 B.C. and died about 233 B.C.

After being on the throne for eight years he waged a war in Kalinga, and was so horrified at the carnage which he caused he gave up war forever and became an earnest buddist.
